26 Friday, December 15, 2017 | NEW ERA entertainment ARTS Basson planning 7th exhibition in April Staff Reporter Windhoek With years of experience in artwork, especially painting, Pieter Basson, who has dedicated his time to evening painting, will be hosting his seventh exhibition on April 3, 2018, at Franco Namibia Cultural Centre in Windhoek. In this exhibition, he follows the same principle. Let the light and ideas of the Trinity through. His art exhibition is titled ‘Divine Intervention’. “I simply try to let whatever is Divine be the sole inspiration with my latest works. Even looking back at earlier works of mine there was this element of divinity but totally inspires. With my latest exhibition ‘Divine Intervention’, I literally gives the Trinity the chance to express through me. People say if one speaks in tongues (different languages), it is also the Trinity. May be even so, the same principle, I want to let be and follow.” Basson adds that with about 25 artworks, in different mediums and variety of styles, he lets the higher supernatural force be and want to let it be. “Many times we follow and adhere to what other people say and do or what even led to false impressions and beliefs. Simply because of the fact that we are human, we are led astray.” Basson’s interest in art developed many years ago, while working for a commercial printer. “I had some free time and I did some pencil drawings on scrap paper from the printer and pencils I collected in different His paintings were inspired by this greater force, the philosophy of the Trinity and he had his share of experience of that even being driven to paranoia at times, a fear of the unseen of some sort. “I foucsed mainly on the work of an artist by the name of Oskar Kokoschka, especially the many colours were fascinating (expressionism). He, as an example, was the divine good (Omens). I even so managed to keep uncertain unwanted feelings and thoughts out of my mind and life, which I believed was a good thing,” says Basson.
