32 ADVERT Friday, November 3 2017 | NEW ERA REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA MINISTRY OF LAND REFORM MEDIA RELEASE LAND VALUATION AND TAXATION REGULATIONS: AGRICULTURAL (COMMERCIAL) LAND REFORM ACT (ACT NO.6 OF 1995). 1. Land Assessment: The Ministry of Land Reform wishes to advise the public/ land owners that land tax assessments for all ratable (Commercial) agricultural land for the Financial Year 2016/2017 were posted on 01st November 2017. The posted assessments are only in respect of those who furnished the Ministry with details of their postal addresses and whose properties are listed on the main valuation roll. For those landowners who did not furnish the Ministry with their postal addresses, the Valuer General, Division of Rating and Taxation, Ministry of Land Reform Headquarters, 55 Robert Mugabe Avenue, Windhoek in order to settle their land tax accounts on or before 30th March 2018. 2. Penalties If an owner fails to pay any land tax or interest (for late payment) when it is due and payable, the amount owing shall be recovered through court action as provided for under section 23(2) of the Land Valuation and Taxation Regulations 2007 of the Agricultural (Commercial) Land Reform Act 1995 (Act No.6 of 1995) as amended. Those land owners who did not pay up their accounts since 2005 are hereby kindly requested to pay up now. Application forms for exemption to pay land tax by qualifying applicants as stipulated under section 768 (1) of the Agricultural (Commercial) Land Reform Amendment Act, 2001 for the tax year 2016/2017 can be obtained from the 28th February 2018. Applicants who submit their applications via Post or through the Ministry of Land February 2018. 3. REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA MINISTRY OF LAND REFORM EXPRESSION OF INTEREST INVITATION FOR COMMUNAL LAND BOARD MEMBERSHIP: 01 MARCH 2018 – 28 FEBRUARY 2021 The Ministry of Land Reform is hereby inviting competent women with expertise relevant to the functions of Communal Land Boards and those engaged in farming operations in all the 13 regions, except Khomas where there is no communal land, to express interest to be appointed to serve on the Communal Land Boards in terms of Section 4(1) (d) (i) (ii) of the Communal Land Reform Act, 2002 (Act No.5 of 2002) as amended. Those interested should indicate the Communal Land Board as well as the stakeholder they intend to represent on the Board for the period mentioned above, i.e. (i) Women with expertise relevant to the functions of a Board or (ii) Women engaged in farming Individuals require to have; RECOMMENDED TRAITS OF INDIVIDUALS REQUIRED I. An in-depth understanding of the provisions of the Communal Land Reform Act, 2002 (Act No. 5 of 2002) and their applicability to land allocation and land registration, land disputes resolution procedures and removals of illegal fences, II.
