THE Reflect. NAMIBIAN Relax. WORKERS ON THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR DAY 01 MAY 2017 Saturday, 29 April - 05 May 2017 | www.weekend.newera.com.na | 24 pages Vol.2 No. 13 RÖSSING IN THE EVENING The entire rank and file membership of the SWAPO PARTY, jubilantly, join all the toiling workers of Namibia OF ITS LIFE and those the world over, in solidarity, to celebrate the International Working Class Day, on Monday, 01 May 2017. The International Proletariat Day is celebrated yearly as an official holiday all over the world to give credence to the accomplishments of the Working Class. People enjoy celebrating the May Day by arranging big demonstrations and lots of activities to manifest their achievements jubilantly. They decorate their activities with red flags and banners to reflect the sweat, blood and lives of workers the world over. …But owners seek opportunities to stick around The International Working Class Day, theme for 2017 is, “SECURING DECENT WORK FOR SUSTAINABLE SOCIAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.” The SWAPO PARTY interpret the theme for this year in Namibia as a reflection as contained in the “Harambee Prosperity Plan (HPP)”, proclaimed by His Excellency Dr. Hage Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia and of the SWAPO PARTY. The embodiment of the HPP in the overall social-economic development of Namibia by the Namibian Working Class is a clear manifestation of unity in action, by the entire Namibian people, the workers, the peasantry, the intelligentsia, the leadership and all other strata of the Namibian society in accomplishing our national goals and objectives. The SWAPO PARTY, which in itself immerged from the belly of the Namibian working class in the late 1950’s and 60’s, welcome the International Proletariat theme of this year, and salute the workers of Namibia through their vanguard, The National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW) which is fully affiliated to the SWAPO PARTY. Through National and International unity of the Working Class, we are certain that their theme for this year will not only be a pipe dream but will be a reality in securing decent work for sustainable social-economic development.
